  1. Love it! The school I visited in Asheville does this and Alden’s Emerson Waldorf school next year does too. How about a professional development day in Chapel Hill?

  2. Great article! Reading “The Last Child in the Woods” several years ago was a catalyst for me to have “noticing” for my class each week. The children would find a spot in the butterfly garden or near the Earth Quilt and be still for 10 minutes “noticing.” They would sketch or jot down notes about what they noticed. Then, their writing and creativity began spilling onto paper. This would take about 40 minutes of our morning, and it was worth every minute. They loved “noticing” and looked forward to it each week. I wish we had spent even more time. Kindergarteners would love this and learn so much. A professional day in Chapel Hill would be awesome! Do it!
